KIDS GROUP VOCAL COURSES
Singing in a group class environment: Vocal group classes are fun, energetic, informative – a great place to begin your child’s vocal journey!  Watch them blossom and gain confidence, self-awareness, social skills and learn about emotions while developing technical vocal and performance skills. Voice Academy “Kids” are ages 7-12. (For teens, please see our adult group classes)

Solo Singing Course

4-week  course | Online via Zoom | Age 6-9 | Age 10-12 | Semi Private (Max: 4 students)

A 4-week mini course where students build a foundation centered on our proven vocal techniques.  Students will learn to sing with proper technique and individual  instruction will be given.  Songs are performed in class with backing tracks and each class begins with breathing and vocal warm-ups and scales on piano. Please pick a song before class starts! Students in Level 2, will work on 2 songs each.

Week 1: Breath control / Week 2:Pitch control / Week 3: Rhythm / Week 4: Song Performance
Topics also include: Chest Voice/Head Voice, Singing with Emotions, Dynamics, and Clarity.

Mondays 5:30-6:30pm | Age 6-9 | Beginner Level 1 |  Feb 7, 14 and 28, March 7

   Tuesdays 5:00-6:00pm | Age 6-9 | Beginner Level 2 | Feb 8, 15 and 22, March 8

Thursdays 5:00-6:00pm | Age 10-12 | Open Level | Feb 10, 17, 24 and Mar 3

Students are welcome to repeat the course with a new song each cycle.

Kat founded Voice Academy NYC once she discovered her knack for teaching people how to sing better. Born, raised and educated in Stockholm, Sweden, Kat has also been an active singer/songwriter/performer who also works with several production companies and record labels to find, develop and nurture musical talent from kids to adults, with a long list of student achievements that prove results.

Teen Voice Practicum – Audition Prep

4-week  course | Online via Zoom | Semi Private (Max: 4 students)

A group class which offers teen performers the chance to workshop audition repertoire in a small group setting. This class entails individual coaching for each student each week, with a focus on connection to text and bodily presence in additional to vocal stability. We will discuss the components and requirements of an audition book: how to select repertoire, how to build a well-rounded book, how to organize and properly annotate sheet music, etc. This will be an opportunity for students to try out new songs in a safe environment and continue to develop their collection of repertoire.

Natalie Young is an experienced musical theatre actor and evidence-based voice teacher who has worked with such industry professionals as Stephen Schwartz, Charles Strouse, Laurence O’Keefe to name a few. She specializes in musical theatre, folk, country, pop, and rock vocal styles, with a particular emphasis on musical theatre repertoire which blurs the boundaries of genre. Natalie holds her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Musical Theatre from New York University, where she worked as a musical theatre teaching assistant before graduating in 2020.

Vocal Fundamentals for Young Singers

4-week course | Online via Zoom | open group course

A large group class which focuses on the fundamentals of singing in an engaging way for younger kids. This class would include weekly lessons on singing fundamentals (pitch, rhythm, resonance, and vocal anatomy) through general instruction, group activities, and singing exercises. Students will have the opportunity for a 2-5 minute coaching each week on a part of their song, and we will discuss how to apply the concepts from instruction to our repertoire.
