Katarina Nolfe – BIO

Katarina Nolfe (Kat) founded Voice Academy NYC in 2006 and she is a noted vocal coach and singer/songwriter based in New York City with an extensive background in music and voice education. Growing up in Sweden, Kat began performing as a child and continued singing live through to her teenage years while receiving private voice lessons and piano/music theory. Kat also studied at Kulturama, one of the most reputable music academies in Sweden.

Relocating to New York City, Kat studied at New School University majoring in Voice Technique, Song Performance and Music Theory. Privately, she studied voice under the world-renowned voice teachers Dr. William Riley and Don Lawrence (whose collective client base is a who’s who list of celebrity with names such as, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Bon Jovi, Usher, to name a but a few).

Kat worked as a singer/songwriter/performer/voice over artist for a music production company in NYC that’s responsible for many top 10 hits. She has collaborated with various musicians/songwriters and producers such as Willie Brown Jr (Alicia Keys), Catalyst (Leona Lewis, Lady Gaga, Usher, Ashanti), Stargate (Katy Perry, Rihanna, Beyonce, Ne-yo, Shakira). The production company recognized her unique talent & the raw ability she has in teaching the fundamentals of singing on a professional level.

Kat therefore began teaching new and up and coming artists voice technique and song performance, & within a very short time her client base grew rapidly to the birth of The Voice Academy NYC. Voice Academy NYC has coached and prepared singers for the Professional Performing Arts High School PPAS (where they got accepted) Notable Alumni of PPAS are Britney Spears, Alicia Keys and Claire Danes.  She also prepares students for recording session, auditions, showcases for record labels, music therapy jobs and the hobbyist sharpening their karaoke skills etc. Several of Voice Academy NYC students have made it through rounds of idol shows such as American Idol and The Voice in the US and other countries.

Current students include professional signed recording artists from children, to teens, to adults, be they beginners or advanced. Voice Academy NYC clients come from the surrounding NYC area but also from as far away as Europe, South America, Dominican Republic, Russia, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, singing in Spanish, French, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Yiddish, & Japanese.

Rob Nolfe – BIO

Rob Nolfe grew up in Louisiana and began playing guitar at age 10.  Soon after, he began writing music and lyrics and experimenting with recording with his first 4 track machine which turned out to be only the beginning of his fascination with recording and making music.

In college, while getting his two degrees (Economics and Masters in Business Admin), he honed his performance skills singing and playing regularly in rock, pop and blues bands and as a solo acoustic artist as well. He also ran live sound for bands and opened a small recording studio where he produced local bands and radio spots.

After college, Rob relocated to Hollywood where he worked in the music divisions of Mary Tyler Moore Productions and Fox Family Channel  and for an artist management company and record label Beyond Music/Left Bank Management who handled the likes of the Bee Gees, Blondie, Motley Crue, Meatloaf, Lucy Pearl, and many more, where he rose to Director of Music Royalties.

But creativity kept calling him to the music.  While in Hollywood Rob continued playing in bands, producing demos and as a recording engineer.  He produced a modern world music release which was distributed by Sony/BMG and followed by a promotional tour at Borders Books & Music stores and live shows, including CBGB’s in NYC.

Relocating to NYC, Rob worked in business management for major recording artists including The Rolling Stones, Sting, David Bowie, AC/DC, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Regina Spektor.   Lately Rob is currently producing music for various artists and projects at Voice Academy’s recording studio, writing songs and developing young artists in addition to teaching and leading workshops on singing, performing and producing/recording.
